Madras Chicken Kurma



Madras Chicken Kurma

Ingredients :

Chicken 1 kg Skin removed and cut

Onion – 4 to 5 Chopped

Tomato – 6 nos blanched and skin removed

Sombu  (Fennel Seeds) – 2 spoons

Green chillies – 8 to 10 nos

Curry Leaf – As required

Coriander –  Generous amount

Coconut – ½ shell

Cashew nut - 10 kernels

Bay Leaf – 3 to 4 nos

Cardamom Pods – 3 to 4 nos crushed

Cinnamon Sticks – 3 nos

Ginger Garlic paste – 1 ½ spoons

Oil – As required (Virgin Ground nut oil or Gingeley Oil)

Salt – To Taste

 

Method

Clean the chicken well sprinkling generous turmeric powder wash well  dry and keep it aside,  Make a paste of the  coconut , cashew, green chilli and fennel seeds,  in a Kadai or a Thick bottom pan add oil when the oil is hot add chopped onion and cook until soft and golden brown now add ginger garlic paste and cook , remove the skin of the blanched tomato and fine chop the tomato add to the ingredients and cook now add the chicken pieces and mix well when the chicken is sealed it forms a white texture now add the coconut, cashew chilli paste mix well and then add 3 cups of water when the gravy is boiling cover the kadai/pan and leave it for 20 mins depending on the temperature you can simmer the heat level, once the oil start to split it indicates the dish is ready check the meat and if required cook for few more minutes and finish with the chopped coriander leaves,

 

The Chicken kurma can be had with steamed rice, idly or kal dosa.

 1 nos Thetran Kotai for purifying 30 liter's of drinking water

Method :

Rub one number of the hard Thetran Kottai in seasoned baked clay brick of on a similar surface to a paste Consistency and then add the paste to the water if the qty of the water is less let’s say 10 litter use 1/4 of the seed

Herbal Medicine for Skin Diseases




Kuppaimeni thailam  

Ingredients

Kopaimeni (tamil name) botanical name Acalypha Indica – ½ cup

Coconut Oil – ½ cup

Tumeric Powder – 3 to 4 pinch

 

Method

Make a smooth paste of the Kupameni leaves

In a bowl pour the coconut oil and heat

When the Oil is hot add the paste of the Kupameni leave carefully

Leave it sizzling for a while and then add turmeric powder and leave it to heat further

Strain the oil and leave it cool and once the oil is cold start using it.

 

The extract is very effective for  a variety of skin disease and constant use will have best result this oil can be also used as a massage oil.

Herbal Cure for Kidney Stones




Nerunji Mull, Tribulus Terrestris Linn -  Khshyam

 

Remedy for Kidney Stone

 

Ingredients

 
Nerunji mull botanical name Terrestris Linn (Available in all herbal medicine shops)

Water 500 Ml

Palm Sugar / Jaggery Optional


Method

Heat Water in a bowl

Add Nerunji mull crushed and powdered  about 2 spoons

Bring it to boil till the juice of the herb gets down

 
Strain the Extract and consume as hot as you can in empty stomach this is a good remedy for kidney stones  optionally palm sugar or jiggery can be added to the liquor.
 
Note : It is always better to consult a doctor depending on the intensity of the stones in the kidney but the consumption of the nernjimull khshyam had helped many patients with kidney stones

 

Chicken curry with select species and herbs



Hot Chicken Curry 


Ingredients 


Chicken  (Preferably country fowl)  - 1 kg

Dry Chilly - 12 nos

Black pepper - 1 1/2 spoon

Cumin seeds - 1 spoon

Sombu - 1 spoon

Scrapped coconut - 1 cup

Curry leaf - Generous amount

Coriander - 1 small bunch

Ginger Garlic paste - 1 1/2 spoons

Onion - 2 cups

Tomato chopped - 2 cups

Chilly powder - 3/4th of a spoon

Turmeric powder - 2 to 3 pinches

Oil - As required preferably sesame oil or ground nut oil


Method  

Clean the chicken nicely and keep it aside

In a pan dry roast chillies, black pepper, cummin seeds, curry leaf, sombu add the grated coconut once the other ingredients are 3/4th done then remove from heat and keep it for 5 minutes and then grind the ingredients nicely,

In a wok or a big kadai heat oil add the chopped onion and cook till golden brown add ginger garlic paste and then add the chicken and cook for few minutes till the colour of the flesh turns white and then add the chopped tomato and cook till the tomato softens, now add the grinded mixture, chilly powder and turmeric add water to the ingredients stirring it cook for about 30 minutes and once the meat is cooked the oil will separate and indicate the dish is ready now add chopped coriander and finish the dish

The curry will go very well with rice or idly

This method of chicken preparation is idle during winter seasons and this is a good medicine for cold



Healthy Black Gram Porridge 

Ingredients 

Black Gram - 1 Cup
Jaggery - 100 grams or to taste
Dry Ginger - 1 inch nicely crushed
Cardamom - 4 pods
Oil / Ghee - If oil then use Sesame oil

Method  


In a bowl soak the black gram when perfectly soake remove the skin and wet grind the dhal to a
dosa batter consistency

Remove the batter add water and dilute

In a thick bottom pan pour the mixture and cook in medium flame stirring the mixture consistently

In an another bowl add the jaggery and water dissolve completely then strain the liquor, place this liquor in medium heat until this mixture forms a good consistency then ad the gram mixture and cook add the powdered dry ginger and crushed cardamom once the mixture is cooked well finally finish with 2 table spoon of oil or ghee

This is a healthy dish for all ages and highly nutritious

Simple Recipe for common cold and flu


Black Tea with herbs

Ingredients 

For 2 cups of tea 500 ml approx

Tea powder/ bag  - 2 spoons or 3 to 4 tea bags

Fresh Mint leaf - a hand measure about 25 leafs

Ginger - 1 inch crushed

Lime / Lemon Juice - 2 spoons

Jaggery - 25 grams or preferably one pcs of dye cast


Method 


Boil 600 ml of water in a pan when the water is boiling add the tea powder or bags then add the fresh mint leaves crushed ginger and jaggery allow to boil for about a minute and then strain the liquor and add lime or lemon juice serve hot,

this is a excellent home remedy for common cold and flu also this is very good for digestives, gives instant energy and relieves from fatigue.
